What is the meaning of serving in Christianity?

To serve in Christianity, he must first work continuously and regularly without expecting to be noticed. After working in the desert for a whole day, the said servant had to immediately prepare food for his master and then he had to gird his waist and serve his master. He did all these things before he ate himself. This servant did these things without expecting anything. Are we willing to do this? If they expect this from us, how soon will we get upset, complain and our hearts will be full of bitterness!? But we should know that the moment we open our mouths to complain, we show with our behavior as if we have a right, while the humble servant basically has no right!

Second, we should not expect thanks after doing the work. We often do services to others, but in our hearts we feel sad and complain that people are so ungrateful that they don’t thank us for our services. The silent and obliging servant does not expect thanks. A salaried servant may have a claim, but an indentured servant cannot.

Thirdly, when he has done all the work and services, he should not condemn others to self-righteousness and pride. When I read the above verses, I thought that the master of this servant seems self-righteous and does not care about his slave. But it should be known that a quiet and obedient servant has no right to think like that. A humble and dutiful servant should only protect the interests of his master and whether his master likes himself or not is not related to him. But how are we? Maybe we are willing to work hard for others and “give them a ride” so to speak, and maybe we are willing for others not to thank us, but don’t we condemn them to self-indulgence in our hearts? A dutiful servant should not be like this, but whenever he sees the pride and self-righteousness of others, he should use the opportunity to be a dutiful and dutiful servant like his Lord Jesus.

There is also a fourth step that we must take. When we have done all these things, not only should we not be proud and praise ourselves, but we should also accept that we are unmerciful servants, that is, we have no use for God and God’s creation by ourselves. We must constantly remember that “in me, that is, in my soul, nothing good resides” (Romans 18:7). In other words, we must realize that when we do good deeds, we ourselves are not worthy of praise, because we have an arrogant and stubborn nature. Honor and praise is due to God Jesus, who has lived in us and led us to good deeds.

The fifth and last step completes the work of the soul and it consists of accepting that all the things we have done with humility and patience are our duty and we have not done a bit more than our duty. God created man in the beginning for the purpose of being his obedient servant. It can be said simply that the sin started from here, that the human being is not ready to be a humble and obedient servant of God. Therefore, the return of a person to his previous position is nothing but to become an obedient servant of God. Therefore, the person who accepts this role is not an elephant. Because he has returned to his original position and Christ has saved him to be a faithful and obedient servant of God.

This is the way of the cross. This is the way that God’s obedient and humble servant, Jesus, first walked it for us. Shouldn’t we, who are the dutyless servants of this dutyless servant, continue to take steps in this way? Does this path that brings us down make it difficult and unpleasant? But this is the only way that will lift us up. It was through this way that our Lord Jesus reached the throne of his kingdom, and it is through this way that we can also reach spiritual power and authority. Those who walk on this path are bright and cheerful people, full of the spirit, life and power of Jesus Christ. “Whoever humbles himself will be exalted” (Luke 11:14). They have realized that the truth of this verse can be true for them as it was for their Lord Jesus.

What we have said brings us to the important and vital issue of repentance. We cannot enter a deeper and more fruitful life just by deciding that we will be humble in the future. We have made some gestures and shown behavior and we are still giving, and we were not ready to apologize, for which we must first repent. Jesus Christ did not become a humble servant just to set an example for us. Rather, he became a servant so that he could die on the cross for these sins and wash away all these sins with his precious blood.

Despite this, until our proud hearts are broken and we do not repent of what we have done so far and our current situation, the blood of Christ cannot be useful for us. The meaning is that we should allow God’s light to illuminate all corners of our hearts and all our relationships. In this case, we will realize that our arrogance caused Jesus Christ to leave heaven and die on the cross to forgive us and everyone. We should not only ask him to forgive us, but we should also ask others to forgive us. This is true humility. In this way, we crawl through the “broken door” and reach the bright and glorious light of the highway of humility and purity.
