Six prayers in Christian for separated family members Many of us have cut ties with some family member for a variety of reasons, from unfortunate events to years of resentment and unforgiveness. This separation can be emotionally and mentally exhausting. Breaking up with family members is painful. We all wish to have a happy family, as we see in movies and serials. We all want unity, family memories, family celebrations, etc. But often, reality does not match these perceptions.

Now, let’s be honest, when emotions run high about family conflicts or anger flares up, especially when things seem so unfair and hurtful, you may not know how to pray. This is where we can turn to the scriptures for wisdom.
In fact, Psalm 41, the song of King David, was written during a period when David’s enemies were rising against him. He cries out to God in distress and speaks honestly and openly about the pain caused by the attack of a close community. Although he was not necessarily writing about outcast family members, this passage of scripture is very understandable.
Here are six prayers from Psalm 41 in Christianity for your rejected family members:
1. Prayer for blessing and health:
God, bless [name of family member] and his loved ones. Rush to help them in times of trouble. God, protect them and shelter them; Put them in the category of happiness.
“Psalms 41:1,2: “Blessed is he who pays attention to the weak; God will deliver him in the day of his calamity. God will protect and preserve him and place him among the happy in that land…”
2. Prayer for healing and recovery:
God, support them in their illness and restore their health to them when they are unwell.
“Psalms 41:3: “The Lord upholds him in his bed of sickness, and raises him up from his bed of sickness.”
3. Prayer for forgiveness and deliverance from slander:
God, have mercy on both of us and stop any accusations and slanders that destroy our relationship.
“Psalms 41:4-6: “I said, ‘Lord, have mercy on me; heal me, for I have sinned against you.’ My enemies say of me maliciously, “When will he die and his name perish?” When one of them comes to see me, he tells a lie, while his heart is full of slander; then he goes out and spreads it everywhere.
4. Prayer for reconciliation and relationship restoration:
God, I am deeply saddened and angry that they have cut me off. Heal my heart and theirs. If this is your wish, repair our relationship completely.
“Psalms 41:9,10: “Even my best friend, in whom I trusted, in whom I shared my bread, has rebelled against me. But have mercy on me, O Lord; lift me up, that I may repay them. I will.”
5. Prayer for transformation and perseverance:
At the same time, may the Spirit of God transform us (and me) into honest people. Even though we are physically separated, keep us in your presence and support us.
“Psalms 41:12: “Because of my integrity you uphold me and set me before you forever.”
6. Prayer of thanksgiving:
God, I praise you, your love is eternal, even when human love fails.
Psalm 41:13: “Praise be to the Lord, the God of Israel, from everlasting to everlasting. Amen and Amen.”
