4 ways to fight the fear of not being enough according to the Bible

4 ways to fight the fear of not being enough according to the Bible Statistics say that about sixty percent of people—more than half of people—have imposter syndrome, but they don’t really understand why. Is it because of the society we grew up in? Is it related to our family or our original culture? Is it related to low self-esteem or false humility?

Imposter syndrome is an inner fear that tells us “I am an impostor”, “my achievements, talents and abilities do not reflect my true competence”. “I am not good enough, I do not deserve, and I should not strive for this promotion, accept this opportunity, or accept this praise that God has in store for me.”

In Exodus 3:11, we see Moses also struggling with a form of impostor syndrome when he protested before God, “Who am I that I should appear before Pharaoh? Who am I to bring the people of Israel out of Egypt? (Holy book)

It is important to know where imposter syndrome originates so that we can recognize it and deal with it. But it’s also worth noting that many of us underestimate the value of our voices and talents too soon. And when we fall into the trap of impostor syndrome, we may become envious of others and begin to devalue our own accomplishments because we fail to see all that God is doing in our lives.

Ultimately, just like Moses, when God calls us to do something, it is not for our own glory, but for His glory. It’s not about building our own kingdoms, it’s about building His. It’s not about filling our own stadiums, it’s about feeding His sheep. It’s not about shining our name in light, it’s about allowing the light of the world to shine through us.

Therefore, we don’t have to live with imposter syndrome because God wants to partner with us in mighty and miraculous works for the name and fame of Jesus Christ. (Holy book)

However, when these delusional thoughts come to you, there are ways to combat them:

Understand your feelings. The worst thing we can do is pretend everything is fine when it isn’t. Ignoring their feelings doesn’t make them go away; It only makes them bigger. Don’t judge yourself when you feel thoughts of imposter syndrome attacking you. Simply say, “Oh, I’ll do it again. Jesus, I invite you here.” Then move forward.
Retrain your brain. Neuroscience research shows that by thinking different thoughts, we can create new pathways in our brain. So, every time you start ruminating on these thought patterns of “I’m not good enough, I’m a fraud,” try replacing that thought with a more positive and honest thought, such as “I’m learning and I’m learning and growing’ or ‘I may not be perfect, but I have a lot to offer.’
Celebrate your victories. It’s so easy to focus on our failures, but if we can celebrate all the small victories, we’ll soon realize that we’re more ready and capable than we thought.
Equip yourself. If you feel you are underprepared, educate yourself, learn and ask for advice. It’s wise to go to professionals to help boost your confidence and skills.
In 1 Corinthians 15, Paul writes about the chain reaction caused by Jesus’ resurrection. “And after that,” he says, “the end will come, when he will hand over the government to God the Father, after he has destroyed every ruler, authority, and power.” For Christ must reign until he has crushed all enemies under his feet. The last enemy to be destroyed is death. Because the Bible says: “God has put all things under his power.” (1 Corinthians 15:24-27)

Paul says that even the worst thing Satan can throw at us—death—has been defeated by Jesus. The good news of the gospel is that we have a Savior who faced our greatest enemies—like a lion, like a giant, like a hero. He was not a deceiver and he won the victory. (Holy book)

This means that whatever you’re fighting, whatever seeks to harm or destroy you – whatever makes you feel like “I don’t belong here, I’m a fraud, I’m a fake” – you can Look at that thing with pride, because Jesus has won. Jesus is winning. Jesus will win. And in a unique way, we are privileged to share in his victory. (Holy book)

Whatever we face, we face the power of the resurrection and the hope of Jesus’ triumphant return. We fight our battles from a position of victory, not defeat.
