5 Reasons Easter Should Fill Us with Hope

Easter is the day when Christians remember the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead. This day can be a day of sadness, but it can also be a day of hope. Here are 5 reasons:

1. God loves you

God’s infinite love for us was displayed on a cross that caused humiliation and shame. But why a cross? Why such sacrifice and torture? You may be wondering if this was necessary at all.

While God could simply grant forgiveness and move on, we must first recognize that our ways are not God’s ways (Isaiah 55:8-9), and that His plans always have a purpose and/or a promise. they bring The cross did both!

The plan on the cross was to show His love for all mankind while giving us a way to save us from our sinful selves. His plan and purpose reflect the nature of His faithfulness, compassion and mercy. The cross symbolizes that Jesus died in our place. He replaced us. He bore our sin, our suffering, our every temptation, our pain and our every suffering for us. His cross is a symbol of humiliation, shame and torture that he endured for us!

2. God is just

God’s view of forgiveness is different from ours. He knew that we could never fully pay for our sin because we are all inherently broken and sinful since the fall (Genesis 3). All our mistakes, from our thoughts, actions, words and deeds to the deceitfulness of our hearts, needed a covering.

The Bible tells us that God is holy, righteous and just (Deuteronomy 32:4 and Psalms 145:17). In other words, God cannot look upon any evil and tolerate it. In other words, sin cannot be in God’s presence (Habakkuk 1:13).

That is why God gave us His Son. Jesus was the sacrifice that was needed to atone for our sins (1 Corinthians 15:3). God took Jesus, who had no sin, to bear our sin so that we would be justified before God (2 Corinthians 5:21).

3. God covers sorrow with His mercy

God reminds us that this life is not meant to last forever. Death is certain and a punishment for sin. As sad and sorrowful as Good Friday was, especially for his faithful followers who gathered at his feet that day, unaware of his resurrection, we have hope knowing that Sunday is coming.

The declaration that we shout on Easter morning that “Jesus is alive” assures us that we too have a chance to die to ourselves and be born again. (Hallelujah)

When we declare our faith and decide to walk a whole new path, choosing to follow His ways, not our own, we basically die that day (John 14:6 and 2 Corinthians 5:16-17).

However, being born again tends to be accompanied by a bit of sadness. As we may mourn our past life or who we used to be. We may be tempted to go back to what we were doing before, because following Jesus requires us to be different and step out of our comfort zone. It calls us to adopt an upside-down view of the world and love the minimums of society, forgive others, and protect our hearts and minds from evil. Following Christ is not easy.

4. God gives us eternal security

God’s plan for our lives is to be in constant communication with Him and live in heaven. We were created to be perfect and holy, a perfect creation. We were never meant to get sick or grow old. We were supposed to live in peace and walk humbly with God. Death was nowhere in the equation. But the enemy destroyed all this with a corrupt and lustful fruit.

Now temptation continues, chaos is guaranteed, lies abound and death is a part of this life. Why does God allow this? Again, while we cannot fully understand God’s ways because they are so far beyond ours, we can see from the very beginning in the Bible, in Genesis, that God did not want His most precious possession, a people made in His own image. had created, to experience death. However, because of choosing to eat that fruit from the tree of knowledge, the end was terrible and Adam and Eve and all of humanity suffered separation from God (Genesis 3:22-24).

5. Easter message for us

God tells us that as followers of Christ, we have a true and real hope, not the false hope that the world gives us. Where the world is noisy, attention-seeking, and full of conflicting messages, God’s messages are simple and clear.

As His faithful followers, God says that we are blessed, chosen, forgiven, acquitted, sanctified, redeemed, and given the gift of the Holy Spirit (Acts 1:8). God says through his Son, Jesus, that we are part of his family (Ephesians 1:5). He says we are his beloved children! Easter shouts out loud that it was worth saving us!
