Hebrews 2:12 tells us that Jesus Christ is the author and perfecter of our faith. Other translations use terms such as “pioneer” (CEB), “source” (HCSB), “leader” (Darby), “founder” (ESV).
Every aspect of our faith is centered around Jesus Christ. He controls our faith as its source and its sustainer. Let’s take a deeper look at the meaning of this verse.
A story is written by an author. The story of the Christian faith is written by Jesus Christ, who is the “begotten and perfecter” (Hebrews 2:12). The original Greek word used for author is “archegos” which means “originator, author, founder, leader, leader”.
The word “completer” comes from “theliotis”, a Greek word meaning “finisher, finisher”. The writer of Hebrews exhorts his readers to persevere against the “snares of sin” (1:12) or “the enmity of sinners” (verse 3) by trusting in Jesus.
He has many names, but “begotten and perfecter” are specifically associated with the life of faith.

What is faith?
1. Christ taught a way to live and think about God and others. This new “way” showed what it means to “love justice and kindness and walk humbly before your God” (Micah 6:8).
Members of the faith, or Christianity, praise and worship God, repent of sin, and demonstrate the maturity of their faith by increasingly submitting to His authority.
2. Trusting in Jesus is another way of understanding “faith” or “pistis” in Greek. It means “belief, trust, confidence; Loyalty is “faithfulness”.
In one sense, faith is “not our own,” though in another, “faith” is clearly our own. And if “faith” is a gift from God, so are “grace” and “salvation”. […] This is not a duality but “both this and that”.
Anyone who has strong personal faith is better able to participate in faith.
What is faith in Hebrews 12:2?

Christ, as one with God, is perfect himself. He is the focus of this goal, the embodiment of all that this goal strives for.

How is Jesus Christ the originator of this faith?
Jesus is one with God, the author of the Bible that defines the way and customs of our lives. Jesus Christ was the forerunner or founder of this new way by example, teaching and by sealing our trust in the resurrection.
Everything Jesus told us to do, He did first. He submitted himself to the Father’s will: “Not my will, but yours” (Luke 22:42). He fed the hungry, healed the sick, and cared for them all.
Even when Jesus was mourning the death of John the Baptist, he didn’t send people away and didn’t get angry, but “he was moved by them, because they were like sheep without a shepherd” (Mark 6:34).
Jesus gave his life for his friends (John 15:13), so even when he tells us to take up our cross and follow him, we know that Christ knows how hard it is.
As a leader, he taught both Jews and Gentiles to love God and each other with their hearts, not just with their actions. After his baptism, Jesus rejected all the temptations of Satan in the wilderness.
Our Savior was “zealous for good works,” performing many miraculous works of healing, even raising the dead.

Every good work that comes from us is the result of what God has done in us by His grace and our willingness to be corrected by Him. Although we have free will to expel Christ from our lives, no kingdom work is possible by our own strength.
