promise of the holy spirit
The promise of the Holy Spirit refers to the promise that Jesus Christ made to his disciples. This promise states that after Jesus leaves, the Holy Spirit will descend upon the disciples as a teacher and guide to lead them on the right path. The promise of the Holy Spirit is mentioned in the Bible, especially in the Gospel of John and the Acts of the Apostles.
This promise is given in the Gospel of John as follows: “And I will pray the Father, and he will send another honorable one to you, to remain with you forever, that is, the Spirit of truth, which the world receives and does not see, because he remains with you and in It will be yours” (Gospel of John, chapter 14, verse 16-17).
This promise shows the presence of God in the lives of Christians through the Holy Spirit, who guides them on the right path, helps them understand Christian beliefs, and gives them the power to serve others and witness to faith.
“If you love me, you will obey my commands, and I will ask the Father, and he will give you another helper who will always be with you. That is, the true spirit that the world cannot accept because it does not see him and does not know him, but You know him, because he stays with you and will be in you.
“I will not leave you alone, I will return to you. After a little while, the world will no longer see me, but you will. Because I live, you will live too. On that day you will know that I am in the Father and you in me and I in you.
Whoever accepts my commandments and acts according to them, he is the one who loves me, and whoever loves me, my Father will love him, and I, too, will love him and I will reveal myself to him.
Judas (not Judas Iscariot) asked him: “O Lord, why do you want to reveal yourself to us but not to the world?”
The promise of the Holy Spirit
Jesus answered him: “Whoever loves me will do what I say, and my Father will love him and we will come to him and stay with him.” Whoever does not love me does not follow my teachings. What you hear is not from me, but from the Father who sent me. I say these things while I am still with you, but your supporter, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you everything and remind you of what I have told you.
I leave peace for you, I give you my peace. The world cannot give you the peace that I give you. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid. You heard that I told you that I am leaving but I will come back to you. If you loved me, you would be happy to hear that I am going to the Father, because the Father is greater than me. Now, before this happens, I told you to believe when it happens. After this I will not talk much with you because the ruler of this world is coming, he has no power over me, but so that the world will know that I love the Father, I will do his orders completely. Get up, let’s get out of here.
