What Are the Important Characteristics that Cause Authentic Christians to Stand Out?
Important characteristics that make true Christians stand out: A Christian is someone who follows Jesus Christ and believes that he lived, died and rose again so that we can be forgiven by God for our sins. Jesus’ sacrifice for us made a way for us to have a right relationship with God.
When we place our faith in Jesus, God’s Holy Spirit dwells in us and initiates a change that leads to the development of these important qualities: love, joy, peace, patience or self-control, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. .
Apostle Paul wrote to the Galatians:
“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, health, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, gentleness, and self-control. There is no honor against such things. And as for those who belong to Christ Jesus, they have crucified their souls with their lusts and desires. So if we live in the spirit, let’s act in the spirit. Let’s not be proud, let’s anger each other and let’s not be jealous. – Galatians chapter 5 verses 22 to 26
What makes Christians different from other people?
What makes Christians stand out from the rest of people and identifies us as followers of Jesus? When Jesus was asked, “Which commandment is the greatest?” Jesus said that Christians should “love God with all our heart, soul, and mind, and love our neighbor as ourselves” (Matthew 22). According to Jesus, all the commandments found in the Old Testament are based on these two commandments alone.
Christians should be prominent in their daily lives.
On a typical Monday stuck in traffic, at home with an angry teenager or toddler, caring for a sick relative, or having a terrible day, Christians need to stand out. Loving Jesus has an incredible impact on our lives.
The Bible talks a lot about confessing our faith and that our faith in Jesus is not a secret to be hidden, but a truth to be revealed as an example to others. Therefore, our daily responses to life should reflect the qualities of patience, kindness, gentleness, and self-control that grow in us as we follow Jesus.
Living as followers of Jesus Christ allows us to experience the work and guidance of the Holy Spirit, the third person of the Holy Trinity, in our lives. The apostle Paul also wrote to the Galatians about the leading of the Holy Spirit in our lives and the manifestation of the fruits of the Spirit in our daily lives (Galatians chapter 5). Therefore, living with Jesus should produce the fruit of good and godly character in us.
How is love unique to Christians?
“Love is patient and kind. He is not jealous, he is not boastful, he is not proud, he is not arrogant, he is not selfish, he does not get angry, he does not hold a grudge, he does not rejoice in injustice, but he rejoices in righteousness. It bears all things, it believes all things, it hopes all things, it endures in all circumstances.” – 1 Corinthians, chapter 13, verses 4 to 7
Christians try to imitate the love described in 1 Corinthians chapter 13 and their goal is to mature and become a good example of Jesus to those around them. Christian love is relational, not transactional, patient, not hasty. Those around Christians should feel more appreciated, wanted, and loved, not shunned.
How do the characteristics of Christians help them in difficult times?
Followers of Christ are people of joy, even during the trials and storms of life. Remembering that we are anchored in Christ, no matter what storm we pass through or what trial we cannot overcome, we remain hopeful. We understand and believe that Jesus is with us and will carry us through the difficult seasons of life.
As believers, even in the midst of hardship, we continue to rejoice and praise God as our loving Father. We can do this because “the joy of the Lord is our strength”! This hopeful face seems strange to the watching world. It shocks some of our friends to see us praising Jesus in the middle of a battle, and this is to testify to the goodness and faithfulness of our God!
