Faith can be defined as complete trust and confidence in someone or something. (Faith in Jesus) It can also mean a strong belief in God. Who or what do you put your faith in? Have you ever thought about the power of your faith? What does faith in Christ mean? The Bible says that faith is the assurance of things hoped for but not seen (Hebrews 11:1). Can you think of times when your faith has helped you in times of trouble or uncertainty? Trusting God completely and believing that His plan is the best can bring comfort and peace to weary souls.
Praying in the name of Jesus helps us recognize God’s sovereignty and power.
Reading the Bible reminds us how much God loves his children.
Having faith and believing in Christ brings us to a closer relationship with God.
We do not see Jesus physically on this earth, yet we believe in His promises and His love. We can trust that He is with us and will be our guide at every moment. Jesus died for our sins. Faith in Christ reminds us of what sacrifice He made for us according to His Father’s plan.
What is faith in Jesus?
You may have heard someone say, “I believe in Jesus. I will pass this difficult test. Or maybe it will be said: “Just have a little faith.” That’s enough.” Have you ever stopped to think about the meaning of these words? Is this person saying he believes in Jesus because he is a Christian?
Maybe there has been a situation where the outcome is not clear at the moment and worry has taken over your whole mind. Maybe you are the one who said, “I believe in Jesus.”
Saying, thinking, or writing these words shows others that we have faith in Christ and that we have faith even when we don’t know God’s plan. Our faith is confidence in God’s plan.
In 1998, my father was diagnosed with lung cancer. He underwent radiotherapy treatments and drugs that caused pain, nausea and other problems in his body. Even while going through a difficult time with lung cancer, his faith in Christ never wavered. My father used to say that he knows that God has a plan for him and that he will believe as the plan progresses. My father did not know what he would face with the cancer diagnosis and the treatments. However, he believed in Jesus.
Our family had faith and trust in Christ, regardless of what the final outcome was.
God healed my father in heaven, not on this earth. On Easter Sunday, April 12, 1998, my father went to meet God with his family at his bedside. A very sad day for our family, but a day full of faith and hope that my father is with God and freed from all pain.
I did not lose my faith at that time. I got closer to Christ and felt his presence. Through prayers, tears and many decisions that had to be made, faith in Jesus guided the family through the mourning period.
I trusted Jesus. My faith became stronger.
I miss my dad, but knowing that he is with Christ comforts me. There is no more pain or cancer in his body.
Why is faith so important in a Christian’s life?
Faith is important for Christians because we are called to have faith, to follow Him, and to share our faith with others through everyday moments. The words and actions we choose can draw others to God or turn them away from Him. We can go to God in prayer and share our praises and concerns with Him. The Bible says that faith comes from God. By reading or hearing the word of God, our faith can grow.
Christians are not called to rely on the word of man, but to believe in the power of God. Christians do not worship people. We worship God.
We are saved by grace through faith. Nothing we do can bring salvation. Because we are saved, we are called to share his love with others and we want to share the good news with others.
Christians believe in God’s word and have opportunities to spread His message.
Having faith means that we fully trust God and His plan. Maybe we want to know why certain things happen. We may try to “solve” things on our own. As Christians, we are able to walk by faith and do not need to physically see the answers. Sometimes we may get frustrated because we don’t know God’s plan. Be sure that his schedule is the best.
I believe that God’s word will be shared in Sunday worship services. I believe that when I fail and deviate from God’s path, He will look for me and bring me back to Him. I believe that when I pray in the name of Jesus, my prayers are heard by God.
Why is Jesus the source of our faith?
Jesus is the source of our faith because He is the Son of God. Christ gives the water of life through which we can be saved. That grace and mercy is given to us by God. Faith comes from God (Ephesians 2:8). God gave his only son to atone for our sins. What a precious gift! We do not deserve such a wonderful gift. However, God loves us so much that He decided to give His Son so that we could live (John 3:16).
Jesus was born in a simple environment, lived a life of service to others, preached to thousands of people, healed the sick, obeyed his Father’s will and finally sacrificed his life for us.
The wounds and sufferings that Christ endured on the cross help us remember the sacrifice and love of the Father and the Son. The grief of his mother Mary and the followers of Jesus is shared in the Bible.
Hearing or reading the word of God can bring us closer to him. By sharing joys, pleasures and hardships, we can call on Jesus and have faith that he is with us.
Jesus intercedes for us when we pray to God.
At the end of the prayers, the words “in the name of Jesus” may be spoken, written, or thought. By saying these words, we are asking Christ to intercede on our behalf.
