The book Victory over Darkness: How is life in the Kingdom of God?
The subject of the book Victory over Darkness is something similar to the New Testament epistles. The first half of the book deals with the basic doctrine and definitions of terms, which are very necessary to understand and implement the practical chapters that will come in the rest of the book. Maybe you think that the first half of the book is not related to your daily experiences and therefore you are tempted to ignore these chapters. But in order to practice growing in Christ, knowing your place in Christ and that you are victorious in Him is vital. Before you know what you should do, you need to know what the foundation of your faith is.
I have spoken to thousands of people, as I did with Ross, my first discipleship volunteer. They are Christians, but they do not make any progress and do not bear fruit. They want to serve Christ, but they can’t seem to move forward and lead their lives effectively. As this poem describes, these people need to once again build their hope in Christ.
Lend me some hope, I seem to have lost my hope.
Feelings of passivity and futility accompany me every day. Pain and confusion are my companions. I don’t know where to return from;
Looking to the future does not bring me new hope. I only see more trouble, painful days, and calamity.
Lend me some hope, I seem to have lost my hope.
take my hand and hug me; Listen to all my rubbish, I can’t seem to come to my senses.
The road to healing seems remote and barren. Lend me your hope for a while, I seem to have lost my hope.
Stand by me, offer me your presence, your heart and your love. Understand my pain, because it is very real and tangible.
Sad and conflicting thoughts have crushed me. Lend me your hope for a while.
There will come a time when I will be healed. And I will share my newness, hope and love with others.
What is life like in the kingdom of God?
Do these words reflect your experiences and demands as a believer? Do you sometimes feel that you are surrounded by the world, the ego and the devil, and you have reached a point where you ask yourself if Christianity has any value? Do you sometimes fear that you will never be who God wants you to be? Do you desire with all your heart Christian maturity and experience the freedom that God’s Word promises?
I want to share my hope with you in the following pages. Your maturity is the product of time, pressure, trials, tribulations, knowing the word of God, understanding your identity in Christ and the presence of the Holy Spirit in your life. Like most Christians, you probably have the first four elements in abundance. Let me introduce you to three more elements.
So let’s watch together the growth of Christians who are alive and free in Christ!
